Eating Disorder Recovery: What is Your Why?
Last night I received an email from my brother with an attached video of my nephew, Gabriel, at his talent show. He was re-enacting the Chris Farley “Van by the river” sketch and Gabe was Chris Farley. As I watched the video my heart burst with pride. I clapped and screamed so loudly that I think they may have heard me in California where they live.
THIS IS MY WHY!
THIS IS WHAT I AM RECOVERING TO!
In recovery I am able to be fully present in the moment. I am able to watch the video of my nephew with my whole heart and whole being. My mind is not ravaged by thoughts of body, weight and shape. I have the ability to fully connect and to fully love.
What are you recovering to?
Today grab a piece of paper and make a list of what you are recovering to. Create a vision board. Grab post-its and hang them around your room. Buy a white board and pretty dry erase markers and write all over it.
Full recovery from eating disorders is possible.
Serenity Always,
Meredith
