MEET MEREDITH O’BRIEN
THERAPIST, AUTHOR, EATING DISORDER COACH

Meredith O’Brien was born in Scarsdale, New York. As a little girl she loved sports, reading for hours at a time, and the beach (her happy place!).

For college she headed to Loyola College in Maryland, where she received her undergraduate degree in Communications with a focus on Public Relations. After working as a production editor on a boating magazine, she felt a calling to focus on helping others. She then received a Masters of Allied Health Studies from College of Mount Saint Vincent and a Masters of Social Work from Fordham University.

Meredith received her License of Clinical Social Work in 2009. Currently she operates her private practice, Meredith O’Brien & Affiliates, LLC, in Red Bank, New Jersey, where she specializes in helping those with eating disorders. In 2018 she became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. In 2020 she became a Carolyn Costin Certified Eating Disorder Coach.

Always an avid reader and writer, Meredith joined the Project Write Now writing community in Red Bank, New Jersey, and the idea for her first memoir was born. O’Brien’s debut memoir, Opening the Door: My Journey through Anorexia to Full Recovery was published in July 2022 from Koehler Books. The memoir describes her gut-wrenching journey of recovery from anorexia nervosa from a young girl to entering treatment at the age of thirty-five. Now fully recovered, her passion is to write and help people with eating disorder recovery.

You can find Meredith’s Recovery from Anorexia blog at https://www.recoveryfromanorexia.com. She lives in Fair Haven, New Jersey with her adorable goldendoodle, Mavi. She has four nephews who are her beacons of hope.
