Eating Disorder Recovery: Support, Support, Support

41

Support. Support. Support. I cannot stress it enough. We cannot recover from an eating disorder on our own. We need to garner the courage to ask for help.

After a relapse, I quickly created my support system and have made tremendous strides with weight gain, reducing behaviors and building my “Meredith” voice and fighting the “eating disorder” voice. One particular coping skill has been particularly helpful.

TEXT SUPPORT.

Connecting with someone each day to identify your successes, your struggles and emotions has been a driving force to getting back on track. Currently I text my nutritionist daily to tell her one success of the day. Whether it be that I did yoga to slow my body down, ate a balanced dinner or exposed myself to meeting a colleague for breakfast.

Connecting with a supportive person helps to keep recovery as the focus, because we know that anything we put in front of our recovery from anorexia, bulimia, and/or binge eating disorder we will lose.

So find your person. Reach out today.

Full recovery is possible!

Serenity Always,

Meredith
